Police arrest kidnappers, rescue two victims in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command on Wednesday disclosed the successful rescue of two kidnapped individuals and the arrest of two suspects linked to the incident.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Wakil, disclosed this in a press statement.

Wakil explained, “On October 25, 2025, Stanley Abuchi, a 32-year-old resident of Wuntin Dada, Bauchi, reported to the ‘B’ Divisional Police Headquarters that five unknown individuals attempted to kidnap him at his residence. When they were unable to find him, they abducted his girlfriend, Joy Stanley, 23, and his friend, Adam Bala, 24.”

According to Wakil, following the report, detectives from the ‘B’ Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), acted swiftly and intercepted the suspects in a red Mercedes-Benz vehicle along Gidan Mai Jos Road, Bauchi.

“During the operation, one suspect, Abubakar Musa, a 32-year-old from Jos, was arrested, and both victims were rescued unharmed.

“Initial investigations revealed that the suspects had demanded a ransom of four hundred thousand naira (₦400,000) from their intended victim. Additionally, the kidnappers took belongings from the victims worth sixty thousand naira (₦60,000), along with personal items,” the statement added.

The PPRO further stated that subsequent investigations led to the arrest of another suspect, Dahiru Umar, a 31-year-old from Yandoya, Jos, Plateau State, on October 27, 2025. A handcuff, regarded as an essential piece of evidence, was recovered during the operation.

He added, “Efforts are ongoing to locate and arrest three other suspects linked to the crime, identified as Ibrahim Hassan, a.k.a. B13, Pigo, and Musa, whose surname remains unknown. The police are committed to tracking down these individuals.”

While appreciating the continued support and cooperation of the public in promoting safety and security across the state, Wakil revealed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Sani Omolori Aliyu, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.

Two weeks ago, the Rivers State Police Command said its men arrested two notorious kidnappers in their hideout in Egwi community in Etche Local Government Area of the state.

The command said the suspects lured their victim through a dating site before she was abducted and subsequently collected a ransom of N200,000 from her family.
