Police arrest 2 teenagers for killing commercial motorcyclist in Osun

Osun State Police Command has arrested two suspects, Habeeb Adedayo (27) and Akeem Fawas (19), for allegedly killing a 26-year-old commercial motorcyclist, Segun Olatunji.

The spokesperson of the police in Osun, Abiodun Ojelabi, in a statement on Tuesday, explained that the suspects committed the purported crime in Iwo, Osun State, but they were arrested at Ibafo in Ogun State, while trying to sell their victim’s motorcycle.

He said, “On 16th August, 2025, the complainant reported at Iwo Division that, at about 0800hrs, his son Segun Olatunji ‘m’ 26years old a commercial motorcyclist, left home for his daily commercial motorcycle operations/activities within Iwo town and did not return home.

“Immediately the report was made, Police Detectives of the Command swiftly put necessary investigation mechanisms in place and fortunately, the duo of Habeeb Adedayo ‘m’ and Akeem Fawas ‘m’ were apprehended at Ibafo, Ogun State, while attempting to sell the deceased’s motorcycle.

“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to have posed as farmers and lured the deceased by employing his service to convey them from Odo-Ori area, Iwo to their farmland along Olupon, Iwo, with an enticing sum of five thousand naira (N5,000).

“The suspects further confessed that, after reaching a certain location, they asked the deceased to stop; Habeeb Adedayo stabbed him in the neck, dragged him from the motorcycle and slit his throat with a knife. The suspects admitted to have committed the crime.

“Furthermore, Habeeb Adedayo confessed that he along with three others excluding Akeem Fawas had previously carried out three successful operations in areas such as Ori-Eru, Agbowo and Ebu Alare in Iwo. One motorcycle and a knife were recovered as exhibits. The suspects will be charged to Court upon completion of investigation,” police said.

Similarly, Ojelabi said a driver of one Toyota Camry with Reg. No. JZ 756 ABC, Golden color, escaped at Unity junction Ikire, in Irewole local government of Osun, during a stop and search around 8:30pm on 29th August.

“In the process of checking the car documents the driver took to his heels. Preliminary investigation revealed that, the vehicle was removed from pact at Owode Ede on the same date midnight,” Ojelabi said.
