Philanthropist Onikijipa advocates severe punishment for rapist 


A philanthropist, humanitarian and founder of Maryam Onikijipa Belgore foundation has condemned incidences of rape of  girl-child and women in the society.

Maryam speaking with journalist during an event in Abuja over the weekend, said the protection of young girls and women is crucial and necessary in the society  because without them there can be no procreation, adding that women must be protected and guided if the society want to experience growth.

Maryam commended the 10th Senate on  bill on rape currently on the floor and return of Nigerian girls and women that are stranded outside the country especially those that are victims of rape.

She emphasized on the trauma that goes with rape victims, calling on government to create centre against rape.

She reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to always speak against  rape, molestation and all manner of abuse on girls and women.

She called on parents and government to also educate the  boy-child  by letting them know what is right and wrong.

 She said,”Family is the smallest unit in a nation so we must make sure that we are doing the best as individuals’

“I’m doing my best in raising my son and you’re also doing your best” When we come together as a force we are going to win the battle against rape.
