Atalanta manager Ivan Juric has revealed that Ademola Lookman was misled by poor advice during the summer transfer window, which led to his failed switch to Inter Milan.

Speaking after La Dea’s 3-0 Serie A victory over Torino on Sunday, Juric addressed the transfer saga that saw the Nigerian international clash with the club in August.

Lookman had submitted a transfer request and even went AWOL in a bid to force a move, but Atalanta stood firm and blocked the 27-year-old’s exit.

The Super Eagles forward returned to action on Sunday, coming off the bench in the 87th minute as Atalanta sealed a convincing win in Turin.

Juric, reflecting on the situation, said: “He spoke to me and the team on Monday. He was surrounded by people who had given him some bad advice.
He has a great winning mentality, and now we need to get him back in shape physically.”

Lookman was one of Atalanta’s standout performers last season, scoring 15 goals across all competitions, and Juric is keen to reintegrate him into the squad as they look to push for a strong Serie A campaign.
