Pedro’s Solitary Goal Earns Chelsea Victory Vs Tottenham

A Joao Pedro solitary goal was enough to earn Chelsea victory over Tottenham in Saturday’s Premier League game.

The Brazilian international should have put Chelsea ahead when Pedro Porro gave the ball away, but Guglielmo Vicario denied him, while Mohammed Kudus fired Spurs’ first shot of the game over the bar from the edge of the Chelsea box moments later.

However, Pedro would not be denied just a few minutes later, though, with Caicedo doing well to win the ball from Micky van de Ven for Chelsea on the edge of the Tottenham penalty area, before finding his teammate for a simple finish.

The clean sheet will undoubtedly have been the biggest positive for Maresca to take, but this is a setback for Tottenham side that have now lost three times at home in the Premier League this season.

The result has moved Chelsea into fourth spot in the Premier League table, level on points with third-placed Tottenham, with both sitting eight points behind division leaders Arsenal.
