The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Monday mocked his critics over the outcome of the local government elections in Rivers State.
He asserted that he successfully influenced the results in his own local government.
Speaking during his monthly media chat in Abuja, Wike highlighted that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured victory in Obi Akpor, attributing the win to his personal influence.

He noted that some critics were upset that he did not extend his influence to other local government areas.
Wike said, “So, Wike is very popular today, is it not the same people I hear in Arise, AIT, and Channels that look, Wike can’t say he is going to determine what happens in others, he can only determine what happens in his local government.
“I have determined in my own local government, I’m a member of PDP and won in my local government.”
He continued, “You blow hot and cold, I have influenced and campaigned for my people to vote for PDP and my people have voted for PDP.
“Now you are angry that APC won in the other local government, which means why did I not extend my influence in the other local government I didn’t have.”
Wike also emphasised the autonomy of local governments in determining election outcomes, stating that each contest has its own dynamics.
He challenged critics to acknowled ge PDP’s performance in the areas where it competed, contrasting it with APC’s victories elsewhere.
