PDP Working To Regain Nigerians’ Trust – Ologunagba

The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Debo Ologunagba, has said Nigerians are eagerly waiting to see the party reposition itself.

He noted that this anticipation comes as the PDP prepares ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Ologunagba made the statement on Wednesday, during an interview with journalists on the preparations for the party’s forthcoming national convention scheduled to hold between November 15 and 16.

He explained that the level of interest Nigerians had shown in the PDP’s national convention reflects their belief in the party as the best hope for restoring democratic governance and economic stability in the country.

According to him, this renewed confidence demonstrates that many Nigerians still view the PDP as a credible alternative capable of addressing the nation’s current challenges.

“Nigerians are eager to know what the PDP is doing to put itself together as a party because they see the party’s vibrancy as the only way to guarantee the sustenance of democracy in the country,” Ologunagba stated.

According to him, “The forthcoming national elective convention is critical to the sustenance of democracy in Nigeria, and that explains the enthusiasm and interest Nigerians across board have in our party.”

He recalled that the PDP’s 16 years in power brought significant progress to Nigeria, citing major economic achievements.

“Under the PDP rule, our debts were paid. We had double-digit GDP growth, inflation was contained, and we had policies that invested in people and their human capital development,” he said.

Speaking on internal matters, Ologunagba confirmed that the party had successfully concluded its state congress in Edo on September 27.

He added that an appeal panel was already in place to address any concerns that might arise from the exercise.

He dismissed speculations about a PDP governor defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying, “The PDP is more than any individual, and such cannot affect our convention.”
