The Forum of State Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended the chairmen of its Imo and Abia State chapters.
The suspension comes over alleged acts of sabotage aimed at disrupting the party’s upcoming National Elective Convention.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the forum held on Tuesday, at the PDP Federal Capital Territory Secretariat in Abuja, under the chairmanship of Sir Edward Percy Masha, Acting Secretary of the forum.

In a communiqué issued after the meeting, the forum outlined its concerns regarding the activities of certain state chairmen.
The statement was signed by the newly appointed Chairman, Dr. Tony Aziegbemi of Edo State, and Secretary, Sir Edward Percy Masha.
The forum accused Hon. Austine Nwachukwu (Imo) and Hon. Amah Abraham Nnana (Abia) of colluding with external interests linked to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to derail preparations for the PDP’s National Convention
“The actions of these state chairmen, including seeking a court injunction to halt the convention, betray the unity and collective resolve of the PDP,” the statement read.
The forum explained that the suspension followed a unanimous decision by members present during the meeting, which was attended physically by 25 state chairmen and virtually by seven others.
Condemning what it called the APC’s “undemocratic and desperate efforts” to intimidate PDP leaders into defecting, the forum warned that such actions posed a serious threat to Nigeria’s democracy.
“We reaffirm our full confidence in the PDP National Working Committee, the PDP Governors’ Forum, and all statutory organs of the party.
“We remain committed to working harmoniously with them to rebuild and reposition the PDP as a credible alternative ahead of the 2027 general elections,” the communiqué added.
The PDP State Chairmen Forum also announced the appointment of Dr. Tony Aziegbemi as the new Chairman, reinforcing the party’s determination to maintain cohesion and safeguard its structures against external interference.
