The protesters marched along Yakubu Gowon Way to the state party secretariat, chanting solidarity songs and carrying placards and banners endorsing former presidential candidate and PDP chieftain, Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, for the 2027 presidency.

The demonstrators also voiced their support for Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s second-term bid, praising his performance in office.

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Ninfa Ezekiel, leader of the North Central Support Groups for Dr. Gbenga Hashim for President, appealed to the PDP leadership to reconsider the zoning decision.

He stated, “We humbly appeal to the PDP leadership to reconsider its decision of zoning the presidential ticket to the South.

“This move may create perceptions of unfairness and undermine the party’s commitment to inclusivity and meritocracy.”

Ezekiel further emphasized, “Nigerians want leaders capable of tackling our economic and security challenges.

“The PDP must ensure that all aspirants, regardless of their region, have a fair opportunity to contest.”

He added, “Our support for Governor Mutfwang in Plateau and Dr. Olawepo-Hashim nationally reflects our belief in their vision, integrity, and ability to deliver results for the people.”

Commenting on party stability, Ezekiel said, “We commend the National Working Committee led by Umar Damagum and other stakeholders for their efforts in keeping the party united ahead of the Ibadan national convention.

“However, zoning decisions should not compromise merit or regional fairness.”
