The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has postponed the inauguration of its national campaign council for the Edo State governorship election indefinitely.

The inauguration was initially scheduled to be held today, June 4, 2024.

The national publicity secretary of PDP, Hon Debo Ologungaba who announced the  indefinite postponement of the inauguration said a new date will be communicated in due course.

“The postponement is due to the industrial action embarked upon by Labour Unions in the country. “A new date for the inauguration will be communicated in due course.

“The PDP charges all members of the Campaign Council, Party leaders, critical stakeholders, our teeming members and supporters in Edo State and across the nation to continue in their unrelenting efforts towards the success of our Party and Governorship Candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo in the September 21, 2024 Governorship Election in Edo State.”

PDP, last week, announced that Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintri will serve as chairman of a 144-member  campaign council for the Edo State governorship election.

Governors of Delta and Taraba States, Sheriff Oborevwori and Dr Kefas Agbu, will both serve as deputy chairmen of the council, a list released by the national publicity secretary of PDP, Hon Debo Ologunagba revealed.

Interestingly, minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and former governor of Rivers State, Mr. Nyesom Wike’s name was not in the list.

Other members of the Campaign Council are serving governors elected under the party platform, former vice presidents Atiku Abubakar and Namadi Sambo and a host of others.
