Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Organizing Convention Committee and Adamawa state governor, Ahmadu Fintiri has said that the convention scheduled to hold in Ibadan, Oyo state on Saturday and Sunday will hold as planned.

Addressing newsmen shortly after the PDP stakeholders’ meeting that lasted several hours, the governor said that the date for the convention is sacrosanct.

The emergency stakeholders’ meeting, held last night at the Bauchi State Governors Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja, was attended by National Working Committee Members, serving and former governors, National Assembly members, BOT members, and state party chairmen among others.

It was gathered that while the former president of the Senate, Bukola Saraki canvassed for a caretaker committee to head the party at the meeting, majority said it has to be elective convention.

Recall that the party has been divided between the Nyesom Wike-led group and that of the Amb. Umar Damagum. While the Wike faction had gone to court to stop the convention, the Damagum group also went to court to reverse the decision of the court.
