1 week ago 11

Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the Itsekiri ethnic group have shown their unwavering support for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori by passing a vote of confidence in him, pledging their backing through 2027 and beyond.

This endorsement took place during a visit by Itsekiri PDP members to Governor Oborevwori at his residence in Osubi, located in the Okpe Local Government Area, on Sunday.

During the meeting, Hon. Augustine Uroye, the representative for Warri South Constituency I in the Delta State House of Assembly, initiated the motion for the vote of confidence. He cited the Governor’s exemplary contributions to human capital development and the infrastructural advancements across all 25 Local Government Areas of the state as the basis for their support.

Hon. Uroye asserted that the Itsekiri people are committed to standing by the Governor beyond 2027 and encouraged him to persist in implementing his MORE Agenda.

The motion received a second from former lawmaker Hon. Misan Ukubeyinje, and was subsequently put to a voice vote by Hon. Thomas Ereyitomi, the representative for the Warri Federal Constituency. The motion was unanimously accepted.

Following the endorsement, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori expressed his gratitude for the show of confidence, stating that it would motivate him to further enhance his efforts for the people of Delta State through the MORE Agenda.

The Governor also acknowledged the support from PDP members in the Ethiope Federal Constituency and Ughelli/Udu Federal Constituency, who had recently passed similar votes of confidence in him, assuring that every region of the state would benefit from his initiatives.

“I have a strong relationship with the Itsekiri community. In Warri, where I was raised, the people know me well,” said Governor Oborevwori. “Many present today are those I started this journey with, so this endorsement is not surprising to me. They believe in my abilities, and their support confirms their faith that I will not let them down.”

The meeting was attended by the state PDP chairman, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, along with elected officials and political appointees from the Itsekiri nation.
