The National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), South East Zone, Goodluck Chidiebere Egwu, has dismissed reports that congresses were held in Ebonyi State.
He clarified that no congress took place at the Ward, Local Government, or State levels.

In a statement issued on Friday, through his Special Assistant, Prince Ify Chijoke, Egwu insisted that the claims were false and lacked legitimacy.
He stressed that “the names being circulated as executives are products of a staged charade and carry no legitimacy whatsoever.”
Egwu emphasised that due process was not followed. He pointed to a ruling of the Federal High Court in Abakaliki, delivered on December 11, 2024, by Justice Hillary I.O. Oshomah.
The ruling barred the PDP from conducting any congress in Ebonyi and also restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from monitoring such exercise.
“The ruling was clear: the proposed congress lacked due process and was riddled with irregularities. INEC, in its wisdom, obeyed the order and rightly refused to monitor or supervise the charade,” he said.
He further clarified that “any congress can only scale through if the National Working Committee ratifies and presents it before NEC.
“After that, the Chairman and National Secretary must write to INEC that the monitored congress was valid, but in this case, it wasn’t.”
Egwu assured party faithful that fresh congresses for Ebonyi and Anambra States would be scheduled soon.
“This press release is pertinent because we don’t want the public to be deceived by APC members putting on PDP garb,” he added.
He urged PDP members in Ebonyi and across the South East to remain calm, resolute, and committed to repositioning the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
