The PDP Governors’ Forum further emphasised that internal disagreements should not overshadow the party’s commitment to national development and democratic principles.

The governors stressed the importance of unity, noting that the upcoming November 15, 2025, national convention is crucial for consolidating the party’s position ahead of future elections.

Meanwhile, tensions persist within the party, particularly in the South-South zone.

FCT Minister and former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, raised concerns about the South-South Caretaker Committee appointed by the PDP National Working Committee (NWC).

Speaking on Tuesday, Wike said, “Our congress was held in Calabar, and Chief Dan Orbih emerged as the National Vice Chairman, South-South.

“There is no two ways about it. If they refuse to recognise this, it will trigger another round of crisis.”

He added, “The so-called acting national chairman of the party wrote a letter to INEC after congress was held that it had been postponed. That is false. The congress was valid and binding.”

The forum also condemned orchestrated defections, stressing that such distractions cannot diminish the PDP’s grassroots appeal.

“Despite the orchestrated defections, the people remain with us because they trust our vision and commitment to improving lives,” the communiqué added.

The governors further accused the APC of divisive governance and policies that continue to impose hardship on Nigerians.

“The APC has failed Nigerians on all fronts security, economy, and social welfare.

“The PDP offers hope and a clear alternative,” Governor Bala Mohammed said during the meeting in Gusau on August 23, 2025.
