The Peoples Democratic Party PDP Disciplinary Committee on Wednesday, shelved the appearance of Samuel Ortom and Samuel Anyanwu, before the committee to March 4th, 2025
Tom Ikimi, Chairman of the committee, disclosed this, while addressing Journalists after the meeting, at the party’s Legacy House office in Abuja
Recall that last week Wednesday, the committee had invited the both PDP members to the meeting, following petitions written against them by party members
The invitations were issued after the committee went through the various petitions before it
Ikimi said the ” two petitions were slated for hearing today”
According to him” One petition was against the National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu and the other against the former governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom.
He disclosed that the “Petitions were served on them directly and through courier and there were evidence that the petition s arrived at their destinations.
“We could not proceed due to correspondences received by those petitioned.
He explained that ” Senator Anyanwu indicated he was not well and had medical appointment to attend to. He sent a letter from his doctor . He therefore asked for another date.”
In the case of Ortom and others, they claimed that the invitations were not received.
But Ikimi said he was sure that ” they were well delivered”
Speaking on the decision to postpone the investigation against the party officials, Ikimi said “We decided to defer the sitting till 4th of March”
He however, expressed his belief that the committee will not sweep any petition under the carpet
“We believe all will be well and we promise that the Committee will be fair to everyone”
BusinessDay had reported last week that the Peoples Democratic Party’ summoned the former Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state and Samuel Anyanwu, the embattled National Secretary, to face its Disciplinary Committee
Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee, Tom Ikimi, in a statement, said the Committee invited the two foremost party members over petitions written by party members.
Tom Ikimi, while summoning the party members, vowed to use the Committee’s powers spelt out in Section 57(1) of the Constitution of the party to restore peace within the party.
Ikimi explained that although the Committee received a total of 5(five) petitions, three of the potions were stepped down, following the ongoing reconciliation efforts of the Governor Bala Mohammed led PDP Governors Forum.
