PDP crisis: Group seeks BoT’s intervention

A group, the PDP Patriots, Monday, affirmed its total support and loyalty to the Ambassador Umar Damagum-led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and all democrats that have remained consistent and working to fix the party.

The group stated this in Abuja while reacting to the current crisis in the party, and what it termed the attitude and behaviour of some people elected under the party’s platform.

Addressing newsmen at a press conference, the spokesman of the group, Mike Omeri, said the group hinged its decisions to voice out on inclusivity, fairness, and justice which the party is known for in line with the provisions of its constitution.

While dissociating self from “the decision of a group of suspended members of the party, who inadvertently claimed to appoint Abdulrahman Mohammed as the Acting National Chairman”, they called on the party BoT to as a matter of urgency step in and find a lasting remedy to the current crisis.

The party also appealed to President Bola Tinubu to rise to the occasion and defend the country’s democratic tenets and freedom in Nigeria.

“First of all, we wish to put on record that on this day being November 3rd 2025, we the PDP patriots, hereby affirm our total support and loyalty to the PDP.

“We wish to further place on record our unalloyed solidarity with the leadership of Ambassador Illiya Damagumled National Working Committee and all those patriots and Democrats that have remained consistent and are working assidiously to rescue and fix our great party to its once buoyant state and status.

“At this juncture, we wish to unequivocally dissociate ourselves with the decision of a group of suspended members of the party.

“We call on the BoT, who are the custodians and the conscience of the party to as a matter of urgency to step in and find a lasting remedy to the current affairs of the party.

“We also appeal to President Bola Tinubu to rise to the occasion and defend the country’s democratic tenets and freedom in Nigeria,” Omeri, a former Director-General of the National Orientation Agency said.
