PDP Convention To Hold In Ibadan Despite Defections – Bala Mohammed

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum Chairman and Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has said the party’s National Convention will hold as planned.

He made this known despite recent defections and internal disagreements within the party, stressing that no external force can stop the PDP from moving forward with its political agenda.

Speaking on Saturday during the inauguration of the PDP National Convention Publicity and Communication Sub-Committee in Abuja, Mohammed reaffirmed the party’s readiness to hold the event.

He said, “We have to really change the narrative. This is a party to be. We have been suffering a lot as a party.

“We have been withering the storm, and we will continue to wither the storm.

“This convention is here to stay. We are going to Ibadan by the grace of God.”

Governor Mohammed stressed that no form of political distraction or defection would derail the PDP’s plans. According to him, “By the grace of God, no Jupiter will stop us. No dark forces will succeed over us.

“The dark forces, if they succeed over PDP, they have succeeded over Nigeria.”

He lamented the current hardship in the country under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), saying, “We have never suffered as a country as we are suffering today under the APC. You have seen what is happening.

“We don’t have to go into deep melancholy and be crying as whipping boys or girls.”

Mohammed called on party members to stay united and resilient, urging them to “be emboldened and not be disturbed by the defections or the shenanigans.”

He added, “Staying back to fight is what makes a man or a woman.

“It’s not an act of cowardice to leave because of one or two people. You are men and women of strength and integrity.”

He concluded by assuring that the convention would mark a new beginning for the PDP, saying, “We have to do something within the democratic space to change the leader, to change the nation. This is the time to do it.”
