One of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) agent during Saturday’s bye-election in Edo state, has escaped lynching after mob attack.
The incident occurred at Ozolua Model Primary School in Iguobazuwa East Ward, Ovia South West local gvernment area of Edo state.
The agent was beaten by angry voters for allegedly refusing to handover their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) to enable them exercise their franchise.
They claimed the said unidentified agent withheld the PVCs after they rejected his appeal for them to vote for PDP candidate.
Police operatives however, intervened to save the situation from degenerating.
One of the voters who simply gave his name as Authur, said: “He (agent), mobilised us for the registration.
“When the voters’ card came out, majority of the people handed it over to him with the hope that they will collect them from him during election.
“But he refused to release the cards because most of the people wanted to vote for the APC candidate, Barr Omosede Igbinedion.”
