Fintech company Paystack has emerged as the most visited website by Nigerians in the Banking Industry in August 2025, with 2.39 million visits. This is according to data provided by Semrush, an online visibility management platform.
The monthly data takes into consideration the total number of website visits on both mobile and desktop by internet users. Paystack saw a month-on-month (MoM) increase of 21.59%, with 2.06 million visits on mobile and 321k visits on desktop. Compared to a year ago, however, Paystack saw an 18.04% drop in visits.
Paystack currently operates in seven African countries, including Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, and Rwanda, cementing it as one of the leading fintech companies on the continent. The fintech recently partnered with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to introduce a new cashless solution that simplifies airport access fee payments.

Following Paystack in the banking industry ranking is the United Bank of Africa (UBA), with a total monthly website visit of 1.58 million in August 2025 by Nigerians. More than 90% of the visits were recorded via mobile, with just 6.26% via desktop users. UBA recorded a surge on both MoM and YoY basis with 11.4% and 2.31% respectively.
Surprisingly, international money transfer service Wise is third on the list with 973k visits. Zenith Bank and GTBank were fourth and fifth in the banking industry category, with 884k and 666k website visits, respectively.

Telecom
In the telecommunications space, 5sim saw the highest website visits by Nigerian internet users with 3.34 million visits. Prominent among the youths, 5sim deals with providing temporary, virtual phone numbers for SMS verification purposes.
The most significant aspect of its rating is its 369% YoY surge, compared to the 16.15% on a MoM basis. 5Sim recorded 2.25 million visits on mobile and 1.09 million via desktop.


Internet speed test platform, Fast, followed with 1.35 million website visits in August. Fast coming second is a testament to the struggle Nigerians have had with network connectivity in recent months. For the month, the platform saw equal shares in mobile and desktop visits with 710k and 641k, respectively.
Tech company and smartphone manufacturer Samsung followed with 984k website visits by Nigerians. Others in the top five are telecoms company Airtel Nigeria and the National Identification Management Commission (NIMC), with 656k and 588k website visits, respectively.

Music
Prominent music download platform Trendybeatz saw the highest website visits by Nigerians during the month, with 2.9 million. Over 95% of that was raked in from mobile, with only 3% from desktop. Meanwhile, the data was a drop on both MoM (-19.56%) and YoY (-12.54%).


Coming next is Spotify. The Swedish-based music streaming platform recorded 2.72 million visits by Nigerians, with 1.58 million on mobile and 1.14 million on desktop. Boomplay is third with 1.72 million visits. The platform saw 1.47 million website visits from Nigerians via mobile and 246k on desktop.
Popular platforms such as Ceenaija and Audiomack secured positions in the top five with 1.66 million and 1.3 million website visits, respectively.

TV and Movies
The category is one of the least performing of all, as the highest website visits of 440k were recorded by KinoCheck. The platform recently gained popularity for its movie trailers. Notably, the platform saw an increase in both MoM (68%) and YoY (54%) basis.
Following distantly is No Film School, with 60k visits by Nigerians during the month. Others are Film House (34k), City on Fire (27k) and 123 movies (25k).
Overall
Across all industries, data made available by Semrush showed that the leading search engine, Google, saw the highest website visits by Nigerians, with 392.91 million. Globally, Alphabet’s Google is prominent for always ranking in a high number of visits.
Further breakdown reveals that Google saw 319.27 million via mobile and 73.64 million via desktop. Meanwhile, the comparison on MoM and YoY grounds dropped to -3.56% and -2.07% respectively.


Video streaming platform YouTube has a record of 54.31 million visits. The platform recorded its highest visit on desktop (28.28 million) while it saw 26.03 million on mobile. Compared to Google, YouTube’s August performance was an 8.03% increase on the previous month and a 5.53% YoY surge.
Popular betting platform Sportybet is third overall with 53.66 million website visits. The figure is a testament to the continual rise of sports betting in the Nigerian and African economy. As expected, 97% (52.21 million) of the visits were from mobile and 1.47 million from desktop.
Meta’s Facebook is fourth with 51.47 million website visits. The platform continues to be one of the most used social media platforms globally. It also recorded an almost equal share of visits via mobile (25 million) and desktop (26.47 million) visits in August 2025.
Pornography platform Xvideo is fifth with 42.05 million visits by Nigerians. 98% of these were recorded via mobile devices with a slight MoM (1.38%) and YoY (1.47%) surge.

Notably, Instagram, Flashscore, WhatsApp, Livescores and TikTok secured spots in the top 20.
