Paystack has terminated the appointment of its Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, Ezra Olubi, following public allegations that he engaged in sexual relations with a junior employee.
Olubi confirmed his dismissal in a statement on Saturday, revealing that the company ended his contract before concluding an internal investigation into the sexual harassment claims levelled against him.
The allegations surfaced in mid-November after a social media user accused Olubi of abusive conduct, prompting wider scrutiny and the resurfacing of explicit posts from his early career. In response, Paystack suspended the executive and announced a formal probe, including plans to appoint an independent investigator to review the matter.
However, Olubi stated that he was not given a chance to respond to the accusations before his removal, describing the decision as inconsistent with the terms of his suspension and the company’s internal procedures.
“My legal team is now reviewing the process that led to my purported termination, including its consistency with internal policies. They will take the steps they consider appropriate, and I will not be commenting further on this matter at this time,” he said.
