Pastor Femi Lazarus, founder of the Sphere of Light Church, has alleged that the recent display of concern by the United States over Nigeria’s internal affairs is not genuine, but a calculated move to create division within the country.

Speaking during a sermon, Pastor Lazarus said America’s statements on the alleged persecution of Christians in Nigeria were part of a broader plan to destabilize the nation.

He cautioned Nigerians to be wary of the sudden attention from foreign powers, alleging that the U.S. seeks to exploit internal differences for its own strategic interests.

The cleric further linked the alleged foreign interference to Nigeria’s vast mineral wealth, noting that nations rich in natural resources often face external manipulation.

“When Goodluck Jonathan was in power, Nigeria needed to buy certain things to fight insurgency, and it was America that blocked us. They are showing interest because they know that it will divide the country. Once they come in, anywhere they step burns. The only country richer than us in terms of mineral resources is Venezuela. Anywhere there is wealth burns. Let’s be careful, they may seem to be bringing help, but the aim is to penetrate and keep us bound.” He said
