PASAN Shuts National Assembly, Block Entrances

Published

Activities at the National Assembly Complex were on Monday grounded by the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), an affiliate of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in compliance with the strike ordered by the organised labour.

PASAN members blocked the entrance to the National Assembly while some workers in organisations like banks, telecommunications, restaurants, amongst other were turned back, and not allowed entrance into the Complex.

The National Assembly Staff Union also blocked the main entrance to the Complex, including that leading to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) as well as Villa gates.

PASAN members were also seen riding on coastal buses to prevent access into the nation’s apex legislature building.

The industrial action has caused the House of Representatives Committee on Finance to postponed the scheduled sitting to monitor the revenue by Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of the Federal Government.

The postponement notice by the Committee’s Clerk sighted by LEADERSHIP reads, “Good morning Honourable members. Please I am directed to inform you that the Revenue Monitoring Exercise will not hold due to the strike by the organised labour.”
