Nigerias Onyinyechi Mark achieved a significant milestone on Friday, September 6, by winning gold in the womens 61kg powerlifting category at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. Marks performance in Paris not only secured gold but also broke both the Paralympic and world records with an extraordinary lift of 150kg, surpassing the previous record held by  Nigerian powerlifter, Lucy Ejike.  Chinas Cui Jianjin lifted 140kg to secure the silver medal, while Mexicos Amalia Prez recorded 130kg to win bronze.This victory is a testament to Nigerias strong record in Paralympic powerlifting category.
