“Over 50 police officers attacked him” — Deji Adeyanju narrates how Sowore was re-Arrested

Human rights lawyer, Deji Adeyanju has narrated how his
client, Omoyele Sowore was re-arrested by officers of the Nigeria Police.

Recall that Sowore, a human rights activist who was arrested
over a recent protest he organized to advocate the release of detained leader
of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu was re-arrested on Friday.

The activist was picked up by the police immediately after
he was granted bail at the Kuje Magistrate Court.

Addressing journalists at the court premises shortly after
the re-arrest, Deji said the activist was violently attacked by over 50 police
officers.

He said, “He was violently attacked by more than 50 police
officers. They took him away by force and we do not know where they are taking
him to.

“The officer, who initiated the arrest, claimed that they
had gotten a remand order but he refused to let us see it.

“We asked where they were taking him to, they said they were
taking him to Kuje prison.

“An argument ensued and the officer said because Sowore
called the IGP useless that they must deal with him and all of them started
attacking him. That is the update currently, we are trying to perfect the
condition for his bail”.
