Our Target Is School Sports, Grassroots Devt To Further Deepen Table Tennis In Nigeria — Mailantarki – Independent Newspaper Nigeria


Hon. Khamisu Ahmad Mailantarki, the Vice President-Elect of Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF), has said the new board of the apex table tennis body in Nigeria would focus on  school sports, grassroots development and strategic partnership in order to deepen the game of table tennis in the country.
In a press statement he personally signed after he was elected vice president of NTTF, Hon. Mailantarki thanked the stakeholders , particularly the National Sports Commission (NSC), as well as President Wahid Enitan Oshodi of the African Table Tennis Federation, and the outgoing President of NTTF, Engr. Ishaku Tikon, promising to join hands with the President-elect of the Federation, Dr.Adesoji Tayo, to advance the sport.
“It is with profound respect and a deep sense of responsibility that I address all stakeholders as the newly elected Vice President of the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation,” he said.
“The election held on 4 October 2025 at the Media Centre of MKO Abiola International Stadium, Abuja, was a testament to the unity and shared dedication of delegates, officials, and stakeholders committed to advancing table tennis across Nigeria.

“I express my sincere gratitude to the leadership of the National Sports Commission (NSC) for their exemplary stewardship in fostering an environment of transparency and fairness, which was essential to the successful conduct of this election. I also acknowledge with respect the supervisory role of President Wahid Enitan Oshodi of the African Table Tennis Federation, whose diligent oversight ensured the integrity and transparency of the entire process.
“Special appreciation goes to the outgoing President, Engr. Ishaku Tikon, whose visionary leadership laid a solid foundation for the Federation’s ongoing growth and development. I am honoured to have been entrusted with this role to serve alongside a leadership team committed to upholding and building upon this strong legacy.

“It is with great privilege that I join hands with President-elect, Dr.Adesoji Tayo, whose extensive expertise and passion for the sport will be pivotal in steering the Federation towards the achievement of its strategic goals. I am devoted to supporting his leadership fully and working collaboratively to realise our shared vision for the sport.

“Our new board has resolved to place particular emphasis on grassroots development, including targeted initiatives within school sports and strategic institutional partnerships.We believe these efforts are fundamental to broadening participation, accelerating the acceptance of table tennis nationwide, and securing the sport’s sustained growth.

“Together, under the able leadership of President-elect, Dr. Tayo, we pledge to uphold the highest standards of governance, foster youth development, and expand opportunities for participation at all levels. Our collective focus remains on elevating Nigeria’s stature on both the African continent and the global table tennis stage through disciplined effort, transparency, and strategic innovation.”

Hon. Khamisu Ahmad Mailantarki brings to the esteemed position extensive experience and a dedicated commitment to sports development. A former member of the House of Representatives and the 2023 gubernatorial candidate in Gombe State, he is also a successful businessman with significant investments in real estate and agriculture. As President of Mailantarki Sports Group, he is keen to leverage his diverse expertise in close collaboration with President-elect Dr. Adesoji Tayo and the executive leadership to implement initiatives that prioritize youth empowerment, expand participation, and enhance Nigeria’s competitive standing in the world of table tennis.
