Our prefectship election aims at building leadership charisma in students — Ngele


The Director of Apearl Premier Private Schools, Kubwa, Abuja, Mr. Livinus Ngele, has stated that the 2025 prefectship election was purposefully designed to prepare pupils and students for future leadership roles.

According to Ngele, the exercise serves as a platform to instill leadership values and equip the learners with the confidence and skills required to become responsible leaders tomorrow.

“It is a legacy initiative created to build leadership character and value for future development,” he said.

He explained that the elections were conducted for both the primary and high school sections, adding that seven officers were elected in the primary school, while the High School elected Senior Prefects, Deputy Senior Prefects and several other officers.

Grade classes, Head boy, Nwokedi Nabechukwu Jason, Head girl,  Ngwuluka Chizaram, Games Prefect,  Aladu Chiemelie Ivana, Asst Games Prefect Ugwu Ifeanyi Princewell, Social, Otache Ehi Ariela, Health Idemuda Emerald Omonuwa and Club Prefect Isah Audu Eshiozogie Ahmed

While in High school, they are Snr Prefecr Obatu Wonder Awele, Asst Bamidele Ayomide Prosper, Games, Adeoye Oluwasemilore Praise, Asst, Obatu Chukwudumebi Marvel, Health Eribake Oluwafirefunmi Jedidiah and Social Inyama Diamond Chiamaka

Ngele noted that the elected prefects will play an active role in the administration of the school by giving suggestions, raising concerns on behalf of their peers, and contributing ideas that will help shape the school’s progress. He added that they will occasionally participate in annual meetings with the management.

While highlighting that this is not the school’s first election, Ngele said the peculiarity of the 2025 edition is that it marked the first time the high school section was included.

He also described the election as “highly contested, transparent, free, and fair.”

“What we aim to achieve is discipline—both at home and in school—and to groom students who can serve as role models. We also want society to benefit from the values we are building.

“We want parents to witness transparency, clarity, fairness, and proper organisation in an election process. No sentiment, no partiality—just a genuine election. People should be free to vote for candidates of their choice. At the end, winners will be trained to provide quality leadership,” he added.

The Chairperson of the Electoral Committee, Miss Jimmy Ibiyeibim, said all necessary measures were put in place to ensure a smooth and credible election. She noted that candidates were allowed to campaign freely under adequate security, which contributed to a successful and transparent process.

The Head Teacher, Mrs. Victoria Innocent Ojomoh, commended the candidates for conducting their campaigns responsibly and adhering to all rules and guidelines.

“They presented themselves well because they followed the manifesto thoroughly,” she said.

Several parents—Mr. Sunday O. Amusa, Mrs. Florence Eribale, and Mrs. Afoma—expressed satisfaction with the organisation and conduct of the election. They advised the Nigerian government to emulate the election process of Apearl Premier Private School to ensure free and fair elections nationwide.

Also speaking, Barrister Promise Choko stressed that leadership is not about being superior to others but about service.

“Leadership is all about service. It is a privilege and nothing more,” he said.

For his part, the Chairman of the Parents-Teachers Association (PTA), Mr. Agbugbaegbu Bright, noted that leadership is ordained by God. He commended the school for organising such a meaningful electoral process to select student leaders.

He further urged parents to rise to their responsibilities and encouraged regular retraining of teachers to ensure they continue to impart the right knowledge and values to the children
