Billionaire businessman, Femi Otedola, has announced a ₦4 billion donation to Augustine University, Ilara-Epe, Lagos State, for the construction of a new Electrical and Electronics Engineering block.
Otedola, who serves as the Chancellor of the institution, made the announcement in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday.
He said the donation would fund the second phase of the Dame Doja Otedola Faculty of Engineering — a project named in honour of his mother, Lady Doja Otedola.
“As Chancellor of Augustine University, I am proud to present my ₦4 billion donation for the construction of a new Electrical and Electronics Engineering block.
“This marks the second phase of the Dame Doja Otedola Faculty of Engineering — a tribute to my beloved mother and to the power of education to transform lives,” Otedola wrote.
The philanthropist stressed that education remained a vital tool for national development, adding that Nigeria’s progress depended on empowering young people through learning and innovation.
“Nigeria’s future depends on the brilliance of its young people, and we must continue to invest in the institutions that shape them,” he said.
Otedola’s latest contribution builds on his earlier ₦2 billion donation to the university in 2023 for the establishment of the Faculty of Engineering, which has since been described by stakeholders as a major boost to technical education in Nigeria.
The billionaire businessman, known for his philanthropic gestures in education and healthcare, has consistently supported initiatives aimed at improving youth development and access to quality education
