The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has revealed that 4.4 million Nigerians have now pre-registered online for their voter’s card in four weeks. This is even as the continuous voter registration (CVR), which commenced on 18th August 2025, continues nationwide.

INEC had earlier announced that online voter pre-registration in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, ends on Monday, September 15th. The process is to enable all pre-registrants to complete their registration at the designated physical (in-person) centres. Without the physical registration, the online option alone is invalid.
Notably, the voter registration in the FCT will be suspended on 8th October 2025. This is in line with the provision of Section 9(6) of the Electoral Act 2022, which requires the Commission to end the process not later than 90 days before the date fixed for elections.
According to INEC, the FCT Area Council election is scheduled to be held on Saturday, 21st February 2026.
