The newly-appointed Asaoni of Ora-Igbomina, Oba Johnson Adekanmi Abikoye, has alleged that members of All Progressive Congress (APC) and their supporters in Osun State are planning to cause political crisis by invading the local government secretariat with political thugs armed with sophisticated weapons over the Appeal Court judgement that returned the immediate past elected council officials back to the office on Monday.
Oba Abikoye who reposed confidence in the Governor Ademola Adeleke-led present administration in the state to oversea the conduct of free and fair local government election, added that Governor Adeleke and his team had been governing the state with candour and humility.
The monarch who also declared that Barrister Hashim Abioye, the chairman of Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC), was capable of conducting the local government election slated February 22, 2025, commended Barrister Abioye for providing enabling environment for the registered political parties to participate in the forthcoming local government election in the state without fear or favour.
In a press statement issued by Oba Abikoye which was made available to journalists on Tuesday, he berated the members of the APC on the idea of returning back to the council secretariat as a result of acclaimed judgement of the Court of Appeal on Monday, insisting that the judgement did not return the affected former council officials back to the office.
Cautioning the APC members over plan of embarking on the unlawful acts of returning to the local government offices in the state, Oba Abikoye urged the security agents to be at alert for any break down of law and order in the council areas.
