Osun Govt Launches Free Imole Wi-Fi To Boost Digital Access, Economic Growth

The Osun State Government has officially launched Imole Wi-Fi, a free public internet service aimed at expanding digital access and driving socio-economic development across the state.

The project, introduced by the Innovation, Science, Technology, and Digital Economy Office under the Office of the Special Adviser, is part of the government’s broader strategy to enhance digital inclusion and stimulate economic growth in Osun.

Currently, the free Wi-Fi service is accessible at strategic locations in the state capital, including the Osun State Library, Osun Mall, Alphastart Hub, Salvation Army Middle School, Osogbo Grammar School, and the Ministry of Innovation, Science, Technology, and Digital Economy offices.

Governor Ademola Adeleke, while unveiling the initiative, described the Imole Wi-Fi project as a crucial step toward bridging the digital divide within the state.

“Imole Wi-Fi is a gateway to opportunity. With this public digital infrastructure, we are cutting barriers, connecting people, and driving growth across every sector of Osun’s economy,” Adeleke stated.

According to Guardian Nigerian, the Special Adviser on Innovation, Science, and Technology, Mr. Azeez Badmus, emphasized that the launch marks the beginning of a larger digital rollout that will reach more communities across Osun.

“This is just the first step. As we expand Imole Wi-Fi, more government services and sector-specific tools will follow, ensuring that every resident benefits from Osun’s digital future,” Badmus explained.

According to the state government, the initiative is expected to benefit a wide range of groups, including students, job seekers, entrepreneurs, healthcare providers, farmers, and local communities. By offering free access to digital resources, the project will support online education, job opportunities, healthcare delivery, agricultural information access, and improved public safety communication.

The government reaffirmed that the Imole Wi-Fi project is designed to strengthen education, employment, healthcare, and community safety while ensuring that Osun State fully embraces the opportunities of the digital economy.
