Osun, Borno, Lagos Lead Nigeria’s Continuous Voter Registration – INEC


 

Osun, Borno, and Lagos states have taken the lead in Nigeria’s ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced on Tuesday.

According to INEC’s update on its social media platforms, the pre-online registration now stands at 5,385,060, while physical registration totals 764,695 as of September 21.

The online pre-registrations, 2,799,844 are female and 2,585,216 male.

Youths between 18 and 34 years account for 3,604,668, including 1,354,274 students. Persons Living with Disabilities (PWD) registered online total 114,713.

For physical registration, 418,750 are female and 345,945 male, with 565,927 youths, 279,172 students, and 10,838 PWDs completing registration.

“The CVR process continues to record impressive participation from Nigerians across the country. Osun, Borno, and Lagos states are currently leading in online registrations, demonstrating strong civic engagement,” INEC stated on Tuesday.

The Commission further noted, “We are particularly encouraged by the high number of youths registering, which is a positive sign for the future of Nigerian democracy.”

A breakdown of the online registration figures shows Osun leading with 578,904 registrants (10.75%), followed by Borno with 561,666 (10.43%) and Lagos with 530,180 (9.85%).

At the lower end, Enugu has 2,931 registrants (0.05%), Abia 4,608 (0.09%), and Edo 9,670 (0.18%).

INEC urged citizens to take advantage of the ongoing CVR, stressing that “every eligible voter should ensure their registration is complete to participate in the upcoming elections.”

The Commission added, “Both online and physical registration remain open, and we call on all Nigerians to register promptly.

“Active participation strengthens our democratic process and ensures inclusive representation.”
