A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has expressed confidence that the party will reclaim power in the 2026 governorship election.
In a statement issued in Osogbo on Sunday, Oyintiloye said the people of the state were already eager for the return of the APC.

“There is no doubt that the majority of Osun people are yearning for our party to come back and continue the good work it started,” he noted.
He dismissed fears that the growing number of aspirants jostling for the party’s ticket could cause internal crisis.
According to him, the process would be well managed by experienced party leaders.
“Internal democracy is part of our strength, and we will not allow the ambition of individuals to disrupt the unity of the party,” Oyintiloye stated.
He explained that the pioneer APC National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, had the required experience to guide stakeholders and members in the build-up to the election.
He also pointed to the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, as one of the leaders capable of providing direction.
Oyintiloye noted that the state party chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, would play a critical role in ensuring the smooth emergence of the APC flagbearer ahead of the August 9, 2026 poll.
“All the aspirants of the APC have the capacity to contest and win the election,” he said.
“But the reality is that only one person can be the party’s candidate.”
“The number of aspirants will not be a problem because Baba Akande, Oyetola, and Lawal, working with stakeholders from ward to state level, will pick the best man for the Osun people,” Oyintiloye stressed.
He further appealed to aspirants to rally behind whoever emerges as the candidate.
The 2026 election, he said, was a “must-win battle” for the APC.
“The people of the state are eager for the return of APC to power, and come 2026, the party will be victorious. All our aspirants are capable, and whoever emerges as the candidate will win the election with a wide margin,” he declared.
Oyintiloye also commended party leaders for keeping the Osun APC united.
He said their efforts had attracted new members from the opposition.
“Our leaders have continued to show maturity and wisdom in steering the affairs of the party.
“Their effort in reconciling aggrieved members and welcoming defectors from other parties is already strengthening our base ahead of the election,” he added.
