Osimhen sets clear target ahead of DR Congo World Cup qualifier

Victor Osimhen has made clear that the Super Eagles have no margin for error as they push to secure a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, insisting qualification is non-negotiable.

Nigeria missed the last edition of the tournament in Qatar, a setback that continues to shape the mindset within the current squad.

Now under Eric Chelle, the team is progressing in the play-offs after failing to clinch an automatic ticket.

Forward confident ahead of DR Congo clash

The Super Eagles moved one step closer to qualification with a 4-1 extra-time victory over Gabon in Thursday’s semi-final in Rabat. They will now face DR Congo in Sunday’s decisive final.

Speaking to ESPN, Osimhen revealed both the urgency and belief within the camp.

“We can get it done,” he said. “We have the squad to actualize this dream of going to the World Cup because everyone wants to go to the World Cup.”

High stakes for Nigeria

The fixture against DR Congo represents Nigeria’s last opportunity to reach next March’s intercontinental play-offs, where two of six teams will ultimately seal World Cup spots.
