Ahead of 2027 general elections, Archbishop Philip Orovwuje has assured of President Bola Tinubu’s victory come 2027 going by his developmental strides in the country.
Archbishop Orovwuje, Founder and Presiding Bishop, Garden of Life Assembly (GOLA), Effurun, Delta State gave this assurance in an interview in Effurun while speaking on several issues including politics and how his Ministry has fared in the last thirty-three (33 ) years.
He said that since President Bola Tinubu assumed office in 2023, there have been great improvements in both infrastructure and economy adding, it is the Governors, Chairmen and Councilors of the various states and Loca Governments Councils that ought to utilize huge allocations given to them to make life bearable and affordable for the people.
Archbishop Orovwuje, a prominent member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) that worked assiduously for the party in the 2023 general elections called on the people to hold the various Governors, Chairmen, Councilors accountable for their plights.
According to Archbishop Orovwuje, “yes, hold your local Government Chairmen and Councilors accountable as they get so much now from the Federation Account Allocation Committee(FAAC) every month because they are closer to the people at the grassroot. Council Chairmen now get their allocation directly from the Federation Account unlike before when governors give whatever they like. People should now ask questions on how the allocations to their areas are spent.
While commending Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his developmental strides in the State especially in the area of physical infrastructures, Archbishop Orovwuje urged him not to neglect human capital development as humans are the bedrock of growth and development of any given nation.
He was of the opinion that it is not out place for the State Government to offset enrolment fees for Primary Six First School Leaving Certificate and West Africa School Certificate examination for all pupils and students in the State.
Archbishop Orovwuje expressed concerns over proper integration of new members of the party who decamped with Governor Oborevwori into the APC, he called for urgent move for proper integration in the interest of all adding, “a Town Hall meeting of all stakeholders by Governor Oborevwori to address the issue would no doubt lay the issue to rest.”
Archbishop Orovwuje who used the opportunity to express gratitude to God Almighty for His abundant grace over the years of his church existence disclosed that the Ministry would be launching its maiden Magazine and confer awards on thirty (30) deserving and distinguished personalities for their steadfastness over the years and contributions to mankind.
According to him, the Ministry which started in 1992(thirty three years ago) with 12 members no doubt had some challenges but by God’s grace, they have stabilized with branches in Sapele, Lagos and his native home, Okpara Inland, Ethiope East Local Government Area.
