A member of the House of Representatives belonging to the group of opposition lawmakers known as the G60, Hon. Aliyu Mustapha, has urged the Inspector General of Police and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Commissioner, Ben Igwe, to investigate alleged Intel of a plot to frame G60 spokesperson and member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere, for alleged fabricated charges of murder, kidnap, arson, rape and other fabricated crimes over his stance on Rivers State political crisis.

Mustapha’s call comes on the heels of the alarm raised by the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), notifying the general public of the Intel they received.

He said that if it’s true, then it’s shocking and worrisome that there were people who are willing to fabricate lies and frame someone over his defence of democracy in Rivers State, his party, the PDP and overall well-being of Nigerians.

The lawmaker described Ugochinyere as the people’s messenger who’s always after the good of everyone, adding that any plan to silence him won’t be tolerated.

Mustapha said, “My colleague and friend, Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere, is an advocate of a working democracy and obedience to rule of law. I read the news of the alarmed raised by the Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP over alleged intelligence to frame G60 opposition lawmakers spokesperson, Ugochinyere for murder and other fabricated crimes over his stance on Rivers Crisis.

“It’s shocking and worrisome that there are people who are willing to fabricate lies and frame someone over his defence of democracy. His advocacy and many battles in Rivers and Kano States should be applauded as that’s what every right thinking Democrat and party man should do, in defence of public interest, peace, stability and progress of Nigeria. I therefore urge the Inspector General of Police and Federal Capital Territory, FCT Police commissioner, Ben Igwe, to investigate this alleged Intel and nip it to the bud.”
