Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, stated on Tuesday that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has consistently prioritized the delivery of high-quality infrastructure and development projects throughout his administration.
During a recent inspection of various projects in Isoko North and Isoko South Local Government Areas, Onyeme emphasized that the Governor’s governance philosophy, anchored in the MORE Agenda, firmly rejects substandard project execution.
He noted that Governor Oborevwori has been unwavering in his commitment to infrastructure that meets global standards while addressing the long-term needs of the community.
The inspection covered several key projects, including the Otekpo Road in Ellu, the construction of the Isoko ring road, the College of Health Technology in Ovrode, and the internal roads in Idheze and Irri, among others.
Addressing the press at Irri Technical College, Onyeme reassured community leaders that the state government is devoted to completing these projects as soon as the necessary administrative reviews are finalized.
Onyeme highlighted that the Governor’s insistence on quality is rooted in a commitment to sustainable development, ensuring public funds are utilized effectively. “I want to assure you that none of the projects we have inspected are abandoned,” he said.
“While the rising costs of materials may necessitate project reviews, I am confident in the quality of work completed so far and the value for money that our administration stands for.”
He elaborated that the administration remains dedicated to making progress on both inherited and initiated projects despite financial challenges.
“Governor Oborevwori has pledged that no project will be left unfinished, and we are determined to fulfill that promise,” Onyeme affirmed.
Regarding concerns about health workers leaving Nigeria for better opportunities, Onyeme acknowledged the global nature of employment.
“Our focus remains on training quality staff to improve the lives of Deltans, but we understand that individuals may seek opportunities abroad. Our goal is to empower them to thrive here and contribute to our state,” he explained.
Throughout the inspections, Onyeme expressed satisfaction with the ongoing work and reinforced the administration’s commitment to holistic development across Delta State.
He emphasized equitable project distribution across all 25 local government areas to ensure every community benefits from meaningful initiatives.
With regular oversight and accountability for contractors, the Oborevwori administration aims to foster robust infrastructural transformation in the region.
