Onyema Credits UK Envoy Baxter for Smoothing Air Peace’s Heathrow, Gatwick Operations

Air Peace Chairman, Dr. Allen Onyema, has credited British Deputy High Commissioner Jonny Baxter with playing a pivotal role in the airline’s successful bid to operate flights into London Heathrow and Gatwick.

Speaking in Lagos, Onyema described Baxter as “a diplomat par excellence” whose fairness and commitment helped Nigeria’s largest carrier overcome a seven-year wait for approval.

The Air Peace boss said the envoy’s efforts ensured the airline received the necessary clearances and was warmly welcomed by Heathrow, which has planned a reception to mark its inaugural service.

Onyema emphasized the development as a milestone for Nigerian aviation, with new Abuja–London flights expected to ease travel for Northern passengers. He urged Nigerians, particularly public officials, to support homegrown carriers as a demonstration of patriotism and an investment in the national economy.
