“One Was Gaudy Carnival, The Other An Exhibition Of Class” – Patrick Doyle Compares Davido, Temi Otedola’s Weddings

Nigerian media personality Patrick Doyle has drawn a striking comparison between two celebrity weddings that took place in August — Davido and Chioma’s white wedding in Miami, and Temi Otedola and Mr Eazi’s wedding in Iceland.

In a Facebook post on Sunday, Doyle pointed out that both events were grand but reflected very different styles.

According to him, Davido’s wedding turned into a colorful carnival with a diverse crowd made up of both the “famous and infamous,” while Temi and Mr Eazi’s celebration stood out for its understated elegance and exclusivity, attended by “equally sophisticated and accomplished personalities.”

Doyle suggested that these contrasting weddings mirror the dual identity of Nigerians.

He wrote: “Two high-profile Nigerian weddings took place more or less simultaneously in the US and Europe. One was a gaudy carnival with a motley crowd comprising the famous and infamous. The other was an exhibition of quiet sophistication and class with a select guest list of equally sophisticated and accomplished personalities. This is the picture of Nigeria that the world is coming to terms with. We are at once razz and loud while also possessing the ability to switch on the charm of sophistication and style. I swear, I love Nigeria and being a Nigerian.”

The veteran broadcaster, who was once married to actress Ireti Doyle, concluded by affirming his pride in his Nigerian identity.
