Ondo Police Bust S^x Trafficking Ring Posing as Job Agency, Rescue 15 Young Women

Ondo State Police have dismantled a sophisticated sex trafficking syndicate that lured young women nationwide with fake job promises and disguised its operations as social media content creation.

In a statement released Saturday, Police Public Relations Officer Ayanlade Olushola revealed that weeks of intelligence-led surveillance led SWAT operatives to raid an apartment in Akure’s Alagbaka area, arresting ringleader Jayeola Joshua and two accomplices.

Other gang members remain at large.“Victims were promised legitimate roles in domestic work, ushering, or overseas jobs,” Olushola said. “Instead, 15 women aged 20–26 were confined in a rented flat and coerced into producing nude photos and videos for paying clients.”

The syndicate allegedly operated under the cover of filming “relationship skits” for social media, with Joshua pocketing the lion’s share of proceeds while convincing victims they were in lawful employment.

Police Commissioner Adebowale Lawal has ordered landlords of the property questioned for possible complicity and transferred the case to the command’s gender desk for deeper probe and victim rehabilitation.

All 15 rescued women are receiving medical care, psychological support, and counseling at the Police Hospital in Akure.“Suspects will face full prosecution,” Olushola stressed, urging parents to scrutinize job offers and the public to report suspicious recruitment tactics to authorities.
