The Ondo State Government has strongly condemned the alarming surge in violence cases against women and the girl-child in the state.
The government, however, said it was regrettable that despite the government’s efforts and the various campaigns to end all forms of domestic violence, particularly against women and girls, domestic violence is on the increase in the country.
Seun Osamaye, the Ondo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, made the call on Tuesday in Akure at a press conference, while unveiling a robust 16-day programme of activities to mark the 2025 global campaign against gender-based violence, with the theme, Ending Digital Violence Against Women and Girls.
According to her, the Ondo State Government, through the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, was committed to ending all forms of violence against women and girls through advocacy projects, services, actions, and partnerships.

Osamaye, who also emphasised the urgency of addressing the rising cases of online harassment, cyber-stalking, revenge pornography, and other forms of digital abuse targeting women and girls in the state, said, “technology should empower, not endanger our women and girls”.
She said, “This year, the government is intentional in spotlighting digital violence because it is silent, pervasive, and often overlooked. Fighting against gender-based violence cannot be achieved effectively if digital violence is ignored.
“The 16-day campaign, running from 25th November International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women to 10th December, will feature a comprehensive lineup of activities designed to raise awareness, strengthen response systems, and foster collective action across the state.
“Highlights of the programme include: official launch and press briefing with the symbolic “Orange the World” illumination at the Ministry, awareness walk and roadshow across major streets of Akure on the 26th of November 2025
“While specialised training for law enforcement officers and first responders on survivor-centred approaches. While on 29 November 2025, school and youth sensitisation on consent, cyber-bullying, and online safety
