Ondo FA Approves Electoral, Appeal Committees For Election

Ondo State Football Association has concluded plans to hold another election to fill the elective positions of the association .

The electoral committee and the appeal committee were approved during the congress held on Tuesday at Police Officers Mess, Akure, the state capital.

March 7, 2025 has been affirmed by the Congress being an earlier board decision for its State elective congress.

This was contained in a communique jointly signed by Akintunde Akinsemola, Segun Giwa and Yomi Ogunlade, chairman, Secretary and member of the communique drafting committee respectively.

According to the communique, the Congress appreciated Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s efforts in ensuring the state Sports stadium is put in befitting condition for the return of the state Sunshine Stars to their real home.

The communique reads in parts: “The Congress appreciated the efforts being put in place by the His Excellency, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, to ensure that Ondo State Sports Complex,Akure is ready for football activities and urged that work be sped up for Sunshine Stars to return to the State.

“The congress appreciated God that no life was lost in the four year tenure of the board and the Congress at large with the Chairman, Otunba Sunday Dele-Ajayi acknowledging the support of the congress in the last four years.

“The Congress called on members not to allow external forces to destabilise Ondo State FA like the last election and urged members to make their campaign issue-based and not degenerate to insults.

“That henceforth, the Bet9aija Ondo State Football League should be an age grade football competition for young footballers in the state with further agreement that it will be an U-17 competition.

“The financial report could not be passed due to the inability of the committee set up by the board to come up with the report even after the given time frame

“The Congress approved the electoral guidelines for the 2025 Council and State elections.

“The Congress approved the composition of the Electoral and Appeal committees with the committees sworn to start work with immediate effect.”

Meanwhile, the members of the Electoral Committee are Barr. Olusola Oke, Chairman, Barr. Adekunle Ayodeji, Vice Chairman, Mr Bisi Ayodele, member, and Oluwafemi Adeleye , Secretary

The Appeal Committee members are Henry Babatunde, Chairman, Barr. Sola Daodu, Vice. Chairman, Segun Giwa, Member, and Tomide Akintoye -Secretary

However, the Congress passed vote of confidence on the Ondo State Football Association Otunba Sunday Dele-Ajayi and the board members.”
