Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa was on Monday sworn in as the Governor of Ondo State for another term of four years.
Aiyedatiwa, who was the deputy governor of the state during the second term of late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu eventually became the governor of the state following the demise of Akeredolu.
He contested the governorship election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and won the election, defeating the former deputy governor of the state, Hon Agboola Ajayi of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and candidates of other political parties who contested the election.
Also sworn in alongside Aiyedatiwa was the deputy governor of the state, Dr Olayide Odunlami.
An indigene of Owo in Owo Local Government Area of the state, Odunlami was appointed the deputy governor of the state for the first term when Aiyedatiwa became the governor of the state following the demise of Akeredolu.
Speaking shortly after his inauguration, Governor Aiyedatiwa promised that his administration will ensure monumental development across the state, saying that he is prepared to transform the state.
He said “today marks another incredible milestone in our democratic journey as a people with a shared vision and united for a common purpose. The vision and purpose for greater greatness and a brighter future for us, our communities and our children”
The Governor promised to lead and govern with the fear of God and utmost dedication to the progress of the state, assuring that “we will prioritize the welfare of our people, particularly the most vulnerable among us – the poor, the sick and the marginalized.”
