Omo-Agege, Anti-South, Doesn’t Deserve APC Ticket In 2027 – Akpodoro

1 week ago 4

Israel Eshanekpe, aka Akpodoro, the Mayor of Urhoboland has warned critical stakeholders in the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, not to consider former Senate Deputy President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, ahead of Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, in the choice of who gets the party ticket ahead of 2027 Delta State governorship election.

According to Mayor Akpodoro who also is also self styled good governance advocate, APC National Working Committee led by the former Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, need to thread carefully in the choice of who leads the Delta State chapter of the party.

Akpodoro stated this at an event organised by the Palace of the Mayor of Urhoboland in Abuja over the weekend to review topical national issues including the politics in his home State, Delta, noting that the 2023 gubernatorial election in the state was not encouraging due mainly to the fact that APC was hijacked by the former Deputy Senate President.

He argued that one of the reasons the people rejected Omo-Agege at the polls then was not unconnected with his stance against power shift to the South, saying alleging also that the former number two man in the Senate supported presidential candidate of Northern extraction in 2023 in the person of his former boss, Senator, Mohammed Lawan.

This development he described as perfidy and coup orchestrated and executed by the Aso Rock cabal then with active connivance of Senator Omo-Agege who he said stood staunchly behind his boss as he called the bluff of those who agitated for southern presidency.

The Mayor further argued that if the then national leader of the party, now President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had not won, Omo-Agege would have sailed on without any regret for his obvious betrayer against the people of southern Nigeria.

Akpodoro says that Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Managment, Mr Festus Keyamo, SAN is more accepted in the state by the party members.

Keyamo, the Mayor said, has shown statesmaship, leadership, dexterity, loyalty and solidarity as a core party man who has the wherewithal to unite all stakeholders in the state and reposition the party for electoral victory in 2027.

He further accused the former lawmaker as being clannish especially while he held sway in the red chamber.

Keyamo, however, according to Akpodoro, has been utilising his money to empower youths, leaders, and persons across the State.

“Why does Omo-Agege find it difficult to work with other leaders?

“He’s simply not a team leader. He is gullible, and no gullible leader can successfully lead a political party in a state,” he said.
