Omisore joins Osun 2026 governorship race

Former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has officially announced his intention to contest the 2026 governorship election under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Omisore made the declaration on Saturday through a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, where he also disclosed that his formal campaign declaration would take place on October 7, 2025, at the APC state secretariat in Osogbo, the state capital.

He revealed that the event will hold under the theme “Fix the Broken, Restore Our Dreams”, describing it as the beginning of what he called the “Osun Rescue Mission 2026.”

The former lawmaker appealed to party faithful and residents of the state to join him at the declaration ceremony, expressing optimism that Osun’s future can be rebuilt through collective effort and renewed leadership.

“My beloved people of Osun State, after deep reflection and wide consultations, I have decided to formally declare my intention to contest for the Governor of Osun State in 2026 under our great party, the All Progressives Congress, APC,” Omisore said.

“This is not just my mission; it is a collective one. I believe strongly that together, we can restore hope, strengthen governance, and deliver a brighter future for every son and daughter of Osun.”

Omisore served as Deputy Governor between 1999 and 2003 under Governor Bisi Akande.
