Ola Of Lagos Not Owner Of Demolished Lekki Property — Firm

Skyewise Group, a Nigerian company, has stated that the property recently demolished along the Lekki Expressway in Lagos is entirely owned by the firm and not by well-known auto influencer Ola of Lagos.

The statement follows social media claims that the demolished car lot, taken down last Saturday, was owned by Ola of Lagos, the popular influencer known for displaying luxury cars online.

The demolition had triggered online outrage after videos surfaced showing heavy machinery tearing down luxury car display lots along the busy Lekki-Epe corridor, a stretch renowned for its upscale automobile dealerships.

In a statement released to PUNCH Online on Monday, the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Elvis Abuyere, described the demolition of its office as “deeply unfortunate and saddening.”

Abuyere stated that the demolition was carried out as part of the Lagos State Government’s ongoing efforts to create access routes for a new waterway development project.

“This unfortunate incident affected several car lots along the Lekki Expressway, starting from Phase 1, where the Skyewise Group office was located,” he said.

Expressing “deep sadness” over the demolition, the CEO revealed that the company has already begun plans to rebuild and set up a new, upgraded facility in Lagos.

He stressed that the demolished property was entirely owned by Skyewise Group, noting that only a portion of the premises had been rented to Ola of Lagos for car hire services and the display of luxury vehicles used in content creation.

“All necessary building approvals, operational permits, dealership licenses, and environmental levies for the property were duly obtained from the Lagos State Government,” Abuyere stated.

He added that the company would soon make available copies of the relevant ownership documents in response to the demolition.

He expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their support during the setback and voiced confidence that the company would “bounce back stronger and better in the near future.”
