Family, friends, and associates joined the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Prof Idia Ize-Iyamu, on Sunday, August 24, to express gratitude to God for her appointment as the 7th CMD of the tertiary health institution.
Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, graced the occasion alongside other top government functionaries, chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC), business moguls, religious leaders from the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), and staff and students of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) and UBTH.
In a sermon titled “From Glory to Glory,” Prof Iyasen Dabor, Pastor-In-Charge, Zone Trinity Sanctuary, said that the blessings of God are abundant in the life and family of the Chief Medical Director of UBTH, Prof Idia Ize-Iyamu.
Prof Dabor charged all to serve God diligently, assuring that the grace and glory of God will be evident in the lives of those who serve God in truth, as in the family of the Ize-Iyamus.
He noted that “UBTH is lucky to have a CMD like you (Prof Ize-Iyamu) because of the grace of God upon your life,” adding that “the glory of God will be upon UBTH and UBTH will attract international helpers under your watch as CMD.”
In her remarks, Prof Ize-Iyamu expressed gratitude to God for His numerous blessings upon her and her family since the beginning of 2025. She highlighted her appointment as Dean of the School of Dentistry, UNIBEN, in the first half of 2025, and her subsequent appointment as Chief Medical Director of UBTH on August 7, 2025, as divine milestones.
Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the CMD’s husband, commended Governor Monday Okpebholo for his unwavering support in ensuring the appointment came to fruition.
Dignitaries present at the thanksgiving service included the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly (EDHA), Hon Blessing Agbebaku; former Deputy Governor, Dr Pius Odubu; Hon Matthew Iduoyekemwen; Senator Matthew Uroghide; former EDHA Speaker, Hon Francis Okiye; Justice Edigin (retd); and Justice Olubor.
Others included Edo APC State Chairman, Jarrett Tenebe; Edo State APC Secretary, Lawrence Okah; former Deputy Governor, Rev Mike Obadan; Mr Akeem Tokurah; Hon Valentine Asuen; former EDHA Speaker, Hon Justin Okonoboh; and Dr Philip Ugbodaga, among others.
