ABUJA – The newly appointed Accountant General of the Federation, Shamsedeen Babatunde Ogunjimi on Monday March 10, 2025 assumed duty at the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF) otherwise known as Treasury House.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed Ogunjimi, whose appointment took effect from 7th March 2025, the same day the immediate past AGF, Oluwatoyin Madein retired.
Speaking during a brief reception ceremony organised to welcome him, Ogunjimi, preached for all staff to imbibe the spirit of togetherness.
Ogunjimi recommitted to the service of the institution charging all staff to bring something new order to make the OAGF a better organisation.
“I am not in any group. We are not going to polarize the house. We can’t be fighting ourselves. We must achieve. If I fail, everyone of you have failed. I am ready to commit myself my life in service of this institution.
I would not have been who I am today if not for the opportunity provided to me by this service. Please the past is in the past. I beg of you, let us work well” he said.
Earlier, Dauda Abdulhamid, the Director of Finance, in a welcome remarks, noted that God has bestowed on the new Accountant General, a very great responsibility of the stewardship of Nigeria’s treasury.
He assured of the support of all staff of the institution to ensure the success of Ogunjimi’s work.
“He is only the Captain driving the Ship. We have to all support him”.
Abdulhamid said even though the new AGF is not new in the system, there is an arrangement for him to meet separately with different cadres of the staff for seamless and effective take off.
