The National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS) has announced the dissolution of the convention planning committee earlier set up to conduct elections into the association.
The student body, in a press release, made available to Blueprint.ng stated that the decision was necessitated after a review of its constitution, which gives the authority to set up the committee on the shoulders of the Senate.
“Pursuant to Article 8, subsection (i) of the NAOSS constitution which states that “There shall be an electoral committee consisting of 5-11 electoral officers appointed by the Senate during the Pre-Congress
for the purpose of conducting fresh elections”
“Based on this, the Legislative Arm deliberated on the matter and took a vote.
“Unanimously, the Senate states that the committee earlier mentioned cannot be recognized and regarded, as it was not set up in line with the constitutional provisions.
“For this reason, members of the association and general congress are advised to disregard any activities or announcements made in the name of that committee”, the statement reads.
The association therefore stated that no convention will be held toll further notice, pending the appointment of Electoral and Convention committee in line with the Senate directives.
It therefore advised members not to purchase any electoral forms, adding that at the appropriate time, a properly constituted planning committee would be communicated
“The Senate will not be responsible for any loss or financial commitment made in connection with the unrecognized committee or any unauthorized sales of forms”, the statement concludes.
