Ogun Police Arrest Herders for Alleged N95m Damage to State Plantation



The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two herders, Haruna Oseni, 23, and another identified only as ZZ, 30, both from Oyo State, for allegedly causing N95 million in damage to a government-owned tree plantation in the Olokemeji Range, Odeda Local Government Area.

According to sources, the suspects were apprehended at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Thursday while grazing their cattle within the plantation, which belongs to the Ogun State Ministry of Forestry. 

Dr. Bashiru Adeniyi, a senior ministry official, reported that the cattle destroyed a significant portion of the plantation, including young trees and seedlings.

Following the complaint, detectives from the Odeda Division swiftly responded, arrested the suspects, and documented the damaged area with photographs. 

The police confirmed that the herders are currently in custody, undergoing interrogation as investigations continue.
