The Ogun State House of Assembly has summoned the State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, and Craneburg Construction Company, the contractor handling the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway project, to address the worsening traffic gridlock along the Toll Gate and Papalanto/Ewekoro axis.
The duo is expected to appear before the House on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at 2:00 pm to discuss solutions.
The invitation followed concerns raised by former Speaker Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo and Majority Leader Yusuf Sherrif, who highlighted the severe delays caused by rapid road deterioration despite recent repairs, overwhelming the State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE).
In a separate development, the Assembly passed a resolution, sponsored by Hon. Damilola Soneye, calling for the urgent establishment of functional sick bays in all public primary and secondary schools.
The resolution, seconded by Yusuf Sherrif and supported by other lawmakers, emphasized that sick bays would provide first aid, manage medical emergencies, aid early diagnosis, and reduce health risks for students.
Lawmakers, including Hon. Olakunle Sobukanla, Yusuf Amosun, Babatunde Tella, Damilare Bello, Waliu Owode, Oluseun Adesanya, and Lukman Adeleye, advocated for qualified health professionals to staff these facilities.
The House urged the Ministries of Health and Education, Science and Technology to develop a standardized school health policy, utilizing graduates from the State Polytechnic of Health Technology, Ilese, and encouraged private schools to establish first-aid units and health clinics.
